Reaching this area requires fulfilling specific story milestones rather than simply exploring the surface map.
Prerequisites for Accessing Moonlight Altar
The Ringleader's Evergaol is located on the elevated Moonlight Altar plateau, a region completely inaccessible from standard paths in Liurnia. Players must progress deep into Ranni the Witch's questline to unlock the necessary underground routes. This journey requires defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, located beyond the Lake of Rot.
After defeating Astel, players must use the Dark Moon Ring to pass through the sealed barrier at the back of the boss room. Following the tunnel leads to the Deep Ainsel Well lift, which takes you directly up to the plateau.
Navigating to the Evergaol Location
Once you arrive at the Moonlight Altar Site of Grace, ride your mount northwest across the plateau. Travel past the Moonfolk Ruins while staying along the western cliffside edge. Continuing downward over the rocky terrain will lead you directly to the stone circle of the Ringleader's Evergaol.
The location rests on the far northwestern tip of the region, overlooking the foggy landscape below. No Stonesword Keys are required to enter this particular arena, making it accessible immediately upon arrival.
Overcoming the Boss and Claiming Rewards
Inside the Evergaol, players face Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader, a swift and aggressive field boss. Alecto uses high-frequency slash attacks and dangerous continuous drain damage, requiring careful dodging and precise timing. Staggering strategies or heavy counter-attacks work effectively against her agile movements.
Defeating Alecto rewards players with the Black Knife Tiche Ashes, widely recognized as one of the most powerful spirit summons available. Claiming this reward makes completing the journey through Ranni's quest line entirely worthwhile for endgame builds.
